England football fans could be celebrating hot weather arriving just as the nation starts cheering on the football team from beer gardens around the UK.

According to data compiled by holiday company Parkdean Resorts, a heatwave bringing baking temperatures of up to 26.9C will hit the country just as England kick off in their first game against Serbia on Sunday June 16.

And the resort site said the data also predicts sunshine for England's game against Denmark on June 20, with 21.6C expected, and for the match versus Slovenia on June 25 a high of 25.9C could make for perfect BBQ weather.

Parkdean Resorts analysed UK climate data spanning the past five years, sourced from meteocentre.co.uk to identify the dates in 2024 with the highest likelihood to experience temperatures over 24 degrees Celsius, considering three-day and seven-day periods.

The Met Office have said, in a long-range forecast for June, that the driest areas and brightest conditions are likely to be in the south.

Speaking to Express.co.uk, Jim Dale, a weather expert from British Weather Services, said temperatures could even reach the 30C mark before the UEFA Euro 2024 tournament final on July 14.

He said: “I would expect 30C to be breached on quite a few occasions here during July and Aug, based mainly on a by then overheated Europe & record Atlantic Ocean temperatures.

“We will not remain immune throughout.”

A spokesperson for Parkdean Resorts said: "As the excitement and anticipation around EURO 2024 builds, fans are set to experience not just great football but also, as our predictions show, some of the year's best weather to date.

While we encourage Brits to enjoy the sunshine with friends and family, it is also important to be safe in the sun.

“Whether you are viewing the football matches in beer gardens, while on holiday, or in the garden this summer, remember to reapply an SPF of at least 30 throughout the day, wear protective clothing such as hats and sunglasses, and keep hydrated.”
