Visitation Location: All visitations are conducted by video at the Wake County Detention Center, 3301 Hammond Road, Raleigh. Visiting Hours: 9 a.m.–1:30 p.m. and 4–6:30 p.m. Exception: No visits will be permitted on a County holiday. All visits must be scheduled 24 hours in advance.

Federal Detention Centers are for pretrial confinement. Let's say you did something that is a federal crime that is bad enough you need to stay in jail until the trial is complete. You will go to a FDC. Once you're convicted, if you need to go to prison you will go to a federal prison.
There may be several reasons: The inmate is currently not allowed visits. The inmate is not one of your approved contacts. You do not have sufficient funds on your prepaid balance to purchase visitation time.
Inappropriate displays of affection or sexual activity are not allowed. If an individual does not follow the rules, the visit may be terminated and visitation privileges may be suspended. The Department of Adult Correction does not allow conjugal visits (sexual contact).
You can only visit an inmate if they have placed you on their visiting list and you have been cleared by the BOP. Upon arriving at a new prison, inmates create a visiting list using the following process: An inmate is given a Visitor Information Form when he/she arrives at a new facility.
An application for each adult and minor must be complete.Completed applications must be returned to the prison facility where the offender is currently housed. Prison mailing addresses can be found on the prison facility webpages. Applications will not be accepted from offenders.
