These powerful Rogue weapons join Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros, Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker,Atiesh, Greatstaff of the Guardian, the Warglaives of Azzinoth(Main Hand/Off Hand), Thori'dal, the Stars' Fury, Val'anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings,Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (1) Shadowmourne and Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest in the collection of truly legendaryweapons, made available to players over the years.

This guide will walk you through everything you need to know to obtainthe Fangs ofthe Father, and will also provide you with relevant informationregarding the weapons themselves.

The quest line is only available to level 85 Rogues.

1.

Preliminary Information

The Fangs of the Father (Golad, Twilight of Aspects and Tiriosh, Nightmare of Ages) are two legendarydaggers, granted as a reward to players who complete the relevant quest line.While the daggers themselves do not have a class restriction, the quest lineis only available to Rogues.

A few important notes regarding the daggers:

  • There is a Main Hand Dagger of 1.8 Speed (Golad, Twilight of Aspects) and an Off HandDagger of 1.4 Speed (Tiriosh, Nightmare of Ages).
  • Each of the two daggers has a red socket with a 10 Agility socketbonus.
  • The Main Hand Dagger offers Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (2) Weighted Blades, an on-equip buff thatgreatly improves the damage of Sinister Strike and Revealing Strike.This is to make the daggers viable for Combat Rogues, who generally have lowerDPS if using Daggers.
  • The Main Hand Dagger provides you with Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (3) Embrace of the Destroyer, anon-use ability that slows falling speed.
  • The set bonus of the daggers is a Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (4) proc thatgrants a stacking Agility buff (17 Agility per stack), stacking up to 50times. Once the buff reaches 30 stacks, each attack has a chance to consumethe existing stacks and grant the player 5 combo points as well as causingfinishing moves to generate 5 combo points, for 6 seconds.

2.

The Quest Chain

The quest chain for obtaining the Fangs of the Father is comprised of 13quests. Most of the quests can (and, due to phasing, must) be completedsingle-handedly by the Rogue. In addition to this, a few quests will requireplayers to venture into the Dragon Soul raid and complete some very basictasks, with the aid of a raid group.

Compared to the two most recent legendary weapons, Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (5) Shadowmourne andDragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest, obtaining the Fangs of the Father puts a lot less emphasison raid content.

Players who embark on this quest line will not only obtain a pair ofextremely powerful daggers, but will also be privileged to experience a verycompelling story-line that touches on the future of the Black Dragonflight.

Please note that none of the parts that involve the Dragon Soul raidinstance can be completed in LFR. Only the standard 10 and 25-man difficulties(normal and heroic) can be used for this purpose.

2.2.

The Quests

In this section, we will look at each one of the quests in the chain,detailing what they involve.

Currently, there appears to be no pre-requisite to being offered the firstquest in the chain, aside from being a level 85 Rogue.

The first quest, Proving Your Worth, is offered byLord Afrasastrasz in the Dragon Soul raid instance. The quest objectiveis simple: pick pocket Hagara the Stormbinder, the 4th boss of theinstance.

There really is not much to say about this quest, as it is extremelystraightforward. A few notes, though:

  • Hagara cannot be accessed before the first 3 bosses are killed.
  • You do not need to have killed the first 3 bosses yourself in order tocomplete this quest.
  • Hagara has an assortment of trash mobs that must be defeated before shespawns, so one cannot simply walk up to her without the aid of a raidgroup.
  • Hagara does not need to be killed or pulled for the pick pocketing to workand for the quest to be completed.
  • Hagara's pockets have a 15 minute respawn timer (which can also betriggered by Resetting the Instance). This means that after a successfulpick pocketing, raids must wait 15 minutes before another Roguecan try to complete the quest. It is also possible to reset her pockets bypulling and resetting the boss (such as with a Rogue's Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (7) Vanish or aHunter's Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (8) Feign Death).

Note that your raid can simply have additional Rogues (such as alts) jointhe raid after Yor'sahj and Zon'ozz have been killed, pick-pocket Hagara andthen leave the raid. They will not get saved to the raid lockout, and theywill be able to progress on the quest chain (and obtain the first versionof the daggers).

Pick pocketing Hagara will reward players with a quest item,Cryptomancer's Decoder Ring. Returning this item to Lord Afrasastrasz willprovide you with the next quest in the chain: A Hidden Message.

2.2.2.

A Hidden Message

This quest has two parts. The first requires you to travel to yourfaction's main capital city (Stormwind for Alliance and Orgrimmar for Horde)and talk to a specific Ethereal, in order to charge the Decoder Ring that youobtained in the previous quest.

Alliance players will have to speak with Thaumaturge Rafir, whileHorde players must seek out Thaumaturge Altha. You will have to pay10,000 Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (9) to get them to charge the ring.

Once the amount of gold has been paid, it will take 12 hours for thering, now Charging Decoder Ring to become a Charged Decoder Ring.Note that this is not in-game (or /played) time, but rather real life time,meaning that you can comfortably do this before going to sleep, and come back12 hours later to a fully charged ring.

The second part of the quest requires you to travel to Corastrasza,at the Vermillion Redoubt, in Twilight Highlands, where the only black dragonegg not yet corrupted by Deathwing's madness has been stolen from the RedDragonflight. You must use your Charged Decoder Ring to decrypt a message.

Once this is done, Corastrasza learns the meaning of the message: the roguesof Ravenholdt are responsible for stealing the egg. She will offer you thenext quest in the chain, To Ravenholdt.

2.2.3.

To Ravenholdt

This is where the quest line takes a much more involved and interestingturn. You will have to use your Rogue skills (Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (10) Stealth, Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (11) Sap andDistract) to sneak into Ravenholdt Manor and find the stolen blackdragon egg.

You will be flown to Ravenholdt by Mostrasz. There, your characterwill gain a "stealth radius" around him/her. Essentially, there will be a redcircle, spamming around 15 yards around your character. While stealthed, if anyenemy enters this circle, they will detect your presence.

Ravenholdt Manor is heavily guarded, and Mostrasz informs you that you mustnot be detected by any guards while making your way in. If you are detected,he will summon you back to your starting location, and you mustbegin again.

You can and should make ample use of Sap: sapped enemies will not detectyou if you pass close to them. Additionally, you can use Distract to giveyourself a bit more room to maneuver. You cannot enter the manor from thefront, and you will have to travel to the right, and around the back of thehouse.

Here, you will find a rope on the ground, which you can use to climb up tothe roof. On the roof, you will see an open window, leading into the towerof the manor.

Once inside, your goal is to make it down to the basem*nt of the house.To do this, you must walk down the stairs from the tower and jump over thewooden railing. There is a mob patrolling under you, though, so make sure thatthey are at the end of their patrolling path when you do jump.

When you make it into the basem*nt, you will discover the hatched blackdragon egg, and you will immediately be greeted with a cut scene. Followingthe cut scene, you will be able to turn To Ravenholdt in toWrathion. He will give you the next quest in the chain,Our Man in Gilneas.

2.2.4.

Our Man in Gilneas

Our Man in Gilneas is mostly a simple travelling quest. You must go tothe Ruins of Gilneas and talk to Zazzo Twinklefingers. He can be foundjust north of the bridge that leads into Gilneas City, in a small woodenshed.

He will offer you the next quest in the chain, Assassinate Creed.

2.2.5.

Assassinate Creed

During Assassinate Creed you will, once again, have to make use ofyour Rogue skills in order to avoid detection by a large number of guards.

Your goal is to make it into the center of the Military District inGilneas City and slay Lord Hiram Creed. The way to him, however, isguarded by many packs of mobs. As with To Ravenholdt, you will have topay great attention not to have any unsapped enemy in the area around you,indicated by the red circle.

Some parts may look daunting at first, but in most cases this simply meansthat you need to wait for a patrol to reach a certain position before you cancontinue. If you fail, you will simply be teleported back toZazzo Twinklefingers and you will have to start over again.

Lord Hiram Creed has 1.8 million health and summons no adds. He isstunnable and interruptible. Theoretically, he has two phases, but looking atthe fight as a single phase encounter is much simpler. He has the followingabilities:

  • Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (12) Blackhowl's Will is an interruptible ability that will drain all ofyour energy. It has a 1.5 second cast time and you must make sure tointerrupt this as often as possible (every cast, ideally). If yourFangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (13) Kick is unavailable, you can stun Creed instead.
  • Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (14) Consuming Darkness is a void zone that Creed will regularly placeunder you. Simply move out of it to avoid taking damage. The spell has acast time, and Creed will cast the ability at the location where you werestanding at the start of the cast, so you can even avoid all of the damage ifyou move quickly enough. You can stun him to stop this cast, but it is notneeded.
  • Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (15) Shadow Breath is a standard frontal cone Shadow Breath attackthat Creed starts casting after he goes below 75% health. It has a 1 second"build-up" cast, giving you ample time to move behind the boss.
  • 2 minutes after pulling him, Lord Hiram Creed becomes enraged, increasinghis damage dealt by 100%.

The fight against Lord Hiram Creed is not difficult, and it can beperformed as any of the tree Rogue specialisations, although Combat may proveto make the fight easier than Assassination or Subtlety. We will not provideyou with a detailed strategy, as this is unnecessary. We will give you a fewtips, however:

  • Keep a high uptime on Recuperate throughout the fight;
  • Make use of your cooldowns regularly, to mitigate the damage that youtake (Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (16) Cloak of Shadows, Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (17) Evasion, etc.);
  • Cast Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (18) Blind on Lord Hiram Creed, giving yourself ample time torestore health (Recuperate and bandages);

Overall, as long as you are consistently avoiding the void zones andbreath attacks, as well as interrupting Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (19) Blackhowl's Will, you shouldhave no problem whatsoever.

Enchanting one of your weapons with Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (20) Enchant Weapon - Mending will provideyou with some healing, which will make the quest considerably easier tocomplete.

After killing Lord Hiram Creed, you must return the quest to ZazzoTwinklefingers. He will give you a follow-up quest, The Deed is Done.

2.2.6.

The Deed is Done

The Deed is Done is a simple traveling quest. Return toWrathion at Ravenholdt Manor and he will reward you with the first (itemlevel 397) version of the Fangs of the Father, Fear andVengeance.

Wrathion willl offer you the next quest in the chain,Cluster Clutch.

2.2.7.

Cluster Clutch

This is a very straightforward collecting quest. It requires you to gather333 Shadowy Gems. These gems are contained withinElementium Gem Clusters, items that drop from bosses in the Dragon Soulraid, provided that there is someone on this stage of the quest when the bossis defeated.

There is no exact or definitive information regarding the drop rate ofthe Gem Clusters, but currently, this information seems the most accurate:

  • Each Elementium Gem Cluster contains between 3 and 9 Shadow Gems;
  • 10-man bosses drop 1 Elementium Gem Cluster;
  • 25-man bosses drop 2 Elementium Gem Clusters.

Based on this information, it would take roughly 7 full clears for a 10-manraid to complete this quest, and roughly 3 full clears for a 25-man raid.

Once you have acquired all 333 Shadow Gems, you must turn the quest into Wrathion, who will offer you Our Man in Karazhan.

2.2.8.

Our Man in Karazhan

Our Man in Karazhan is a simple traveling quest that has you findZazzo Twinklefingers outside of Karazhan. In similar fashion toAssassinate Creed, he will offer you a quest to kill a powerful elitemob, Blood of the Betrayer.

2.2.9.

Blood of the Betrayer

The Blood of the Betrayer quest requires you to employ the samesneaking and stealthing techniques previously used in Assassinate Creed,in order to reach and defeat an elite mob called Nalice, in the cellarsunder Karazhan.

Sneaking around is a bit more difficult here than on the previous quest,and you may fail repeatedly. However, with proper use of Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (21) Sap andDistract as well as careful observation of mob patrol patterns, it isperfectly doable.

Nalice has 3.1M health and, despite having a high number of abilities inher arsenal, she is not more complicated or difficult to defeat thanLord Hiram Creed. As with Creed, she is susceptible to interrupts, stunsand pretty much every other ability in your toolbox. We will present to youonly those things which are of actual importance during the encounter:

  • When Nalice casts Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (22) Arcane Infused Weapon on herself, use anything youcan to avoid her attacks:
    • Use Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (23) Evasion;
    • Stun her (Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (24) Kidney Shot), Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (25) Gouge her or Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (26) Blind her.
  • When Nalice casts Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (27) Arcane Missiles, Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (28) Kick the cast;
  • When Nalice casts Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (29) Enrage, use Shiv to remove thebuff;
  • A few times during the encounter, Nalice will protect herself in a bubbleand begin channeling a spell for 20 seconds. She is immune during this time,and you must Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (30) Sprint across the room to the two Arcane Devices that arelinked to Nalice by means of two beams of light and right click each of thesedevices to deactivate them. Failing to do so before 20 seconds expire willcause Nalice to one-shot you;
  • When Nalice casts Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (31) Blazing Shadows on you, useFangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (32) Cloak of Shadows or (if it is not available) simply run around the room,as the debuff causes you to leave fire under your character every second fora short while.

As with Lord Hiram Creed, you should make use of all the survivalabilities you have, and of course deal as much damage as possible toNalice.

Enchanting one of your weapons with Fangs of the Father (Legendary Daggers) Quest Line Guide (WoD 6.1.2) (33) Enchant Weapon - Mending will provideyou with some healing, which will make the quest considerably easier tocomplete.

After killing Nalice, return to Zazzo Twinklefingers. He will give you thenext quest in the chain, Victory in the Depths.

2.2.10.

Victory in the Depths

Victory in the Depths is another traveling quest. You must turn it into Wrathion, inside Ravenholdt Manor, who will reward you with thesecond (item level 406) version of the Fangs of the Father, The Sleeperand The Dreamer.

Wrathion will give you the next quest in the chain,Sharpening Your Fangs.

2.2.11.

Sharpening Your Fangs

Sharpening Your Fangs is yet another straightforward collecting quest.You are required to gather 60 Elementium Gem Clusters. As you know,these drop from bosses within the Dragon Soul raid.

Keep in mind that a Rogue currently collecting Elementium Gem Clusters willprevent another Rogue, on an earlier part of the chain (Cluster Clutch),from progressing at all. This appears to be a deliberate choice by Blizzard,meant to keep the number of legendary daggers relatively low.

Once you have collected all 60 Clusters, return to Wrathion inorder to receive the final quest in the chain: Patricide.

2.2.12.

Patricide

Patricide is the final quest in the Fangs of the Father quest-line.The quest requires you to loot a quest item, Fragment of Deathwing's Jawfrom Deathwing, after the Madness of Deathwing encounter.

We believe this quest to not be completely developed, yet, on the PTR.This is because, by comparison, the item that needed to be looted fromRagnaros for the Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest quest chain altered the mechanics ofthe encounter and presented a challenge, while this does not appear todo so.

Returning to Wrathion with the quest item will finally reward youwith the Fangs of the Father, Golad, Twilight of Aspects and Tiriosh, Nightmare of Ages, as well asthe Fangs of the Father Feat of Strength.

Obtaining the final version of the weapons also rewards the guild with theFangs of the Father - Guild Edition guild achievement.

3.

Final Considerations

This concludes the Fangs of the Father legendary quest guide. We hope youhave enjoyed this walkthrough and, of course, the actual quest chain.
